You have an excellent piece here. It is disconcerting, thoughtful, and inventive. The style of putting a maze of angular lines reminds me of Mayan drawings for some reason. It also reminds me about the stresses of modern life, as if each line contains information on a computer chip and taken all together, the information overloads the human's mainframe. If I had to guess what it was about, then, judging from the quote, I would say it's about going insane from only receiving negative news and therefore, holding a warped worldview.
There are a couple odd choices in coloring here. The first being that you have a little bit of yellow on the left side of the eye, all on its own. The other is that you have a spot near the duct where there's a seam in the shadow. Both of these may just be artistic choices, but I find them a little distracting.
I like that the eye isn't fully opened and I love your shading. I also like how the image has stains and marks on it. Good luck with future endeavors!
