Taking Flight

It's been forever since I looked at a good watercolor painting. I must say that this is spectacular! I love the myriad of colors used. You seem to use a lot of darker colors, particularly rose red and cherry. Both hare favorites of mine.

What's so remarkable about this painting is that each of the splotches of paint form a different shape, each of which grabs the eye. The girl's dress and the sun shining on it, the parasol, the hils in the background, the bush in the front, the clouds, it's all so captivating. I love it all! And her expression is subtle, yet gorgeous. She's just happy to be outside and doing her own thing. I don't need to dig for a deeper meaning. It's clearly there. I love it!

If I had to be critical, it would be a small nitpick. Her hands aren't painted very well. It looks more like she just has spikes coming out of one hand, and the one holding the parasol can be barely seen. But it's just a small nitpick. The rest of this is so scrumptious for my eyes!

This is just beautiful! I'd say we have a winner here. You should be proud. Welcome to The List.
